This is really not a very good game. It is so incredibly overcomplicated it hurts. I just finished the chapter on character creation. There were so many stupid details that it took over fifty pages to explain them! There are many powers, but I'm unclear on much of how they work. For example I don't understand the "Running" power. It doesn't confer superspeed (a separate power does that), so I'm not sure what makes it a power. Can my character run without this power? Batman has no powers at all, so does that mean he can't run? If you *can* run without the power then why does it exist and what do you gain by having it?

As to mechanics I'm still hopelessly confused. How do I figure out how much damage I do? What are AVs/OVs/RVs/etc. and what do they do (since they seem to affect everything)? Why take any powers if "Omni-Power" lets you use all of them (and how the hell does that work anyway)?

I honestly don't think I could handle playing this game.

Oh, and why doesn't Black Canary's Sonic Canary Call exist as a power? There are no sonic powers that I saw. What if I wanted to play her? Am I just stuck without it?

So many questions! Brian hurts!

This book is still painfully slow at developing the plot. There were some interesting developments in the last few chapters, but the characters still seem dreadfully imbecilic at putting together the clues they have. I'm not entirely sure where the plot is going, but some little things about it are clear. It is very frustrating. I find it irritating that the characters are so far from themselves in this book. They are almost caricatures of children written by an adult who doesn't actually listen when a child speaks to them. It's almost sad.

I swear I already read that chapter...

Oh yeah, I did! It's pretty much a rehash of the first chapter! It has the same breakdown of sections and discusses the same rules. It just rewords everything. I sort of wonder why I read it. I kind of understand a little better, but I think that's more by virtue of reading it again than because it was any clearer.

And there were more sentences that stopped short in the middle and typographical errors. They really should have made more of an effort to edit this book! Good grief!

Ok, the last section of the book kind of suggested that all of what we have been told so far (all from Driskoll's point of view) is an illusion or twisted somehow. If that turns out to be the case, my estimation of the book will go up a lot. That is a really interesting way to tell the story and would add a dimension that no other book in the series has had. It would explain why no one else has played a very big role in this book except Driskoll, why everyone seems so oblivious to the obvious, and why many aspects of the mystery make little or no sense. It's an interesting twist and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens!
